--Families with Children from China National Site

G-884 FORM, REQUEST FOR THE RETURN OF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS 

The G-884 form isn't available online; you have to order it by mail. It is free. ***NOTE: Families who brought children home prior to the "automatic" issuance of the Certificate of Citizenship (roughly effective 1/20/04) do NOT need your child's Certificate of Citizenship or US passport to file this form. All you need is the Alien Registration Number from your child's permanent resident card ("green card") that you received in the mail after arriving home. ***Families now receiving the C of C automatically might consider waiting until you have the C of C to file the G-884 to give her visa packet time to become part of her citizenship record, thus assuring you will receive all her documents. The C of C is supposed to be mailed to you within 45 days of your arrival home; many families are receiving them within a month.
